Empty Nester Parents

Having kids leave the house, or preparing for them to soon leave the house, is a challenging thing for caring parents.

They are often plagued with constant worry for them; they fear they haven’t set their kid or kids up good enough.

Along with this, they might begin to feel undervalued or under appreciated by those who are the main object of their care, concern, and energy.

This can often lead to feelings of loneliness, as they are the one supporting everyone else, without anyone left to support them.

They might say to themselves:

“It would be nice if someone could recognize my effort.”

“I don’t even remember what it is like to put myself first.”

“I want to be the best mom/parent I can possibly be for my kids.” (I know every parent probably thinks this, but for these people, it can be a super intense drive with self imposed high expectations.)

By helping moms realize that when they can feel resilient and happy, the whole family benefits, they can begin to recognize the need to prioritize themselves, as well.

Learning to set the right boundaries and employing self care can help them learn how to build an internal foundation of stability, enabling them to depend on their intuition and problem solving skills when life brings problems that seem unsolvable.
